Diane E. Phillips
Diane chose the Saint Ann Foundation after being introduced to the the organization’s founder, Abel Robert. “At age twenty-six, Abel has already established himself as an incredibly gifted and impressive community developer and national leader. Abel was himself an orphan, then worked his way through college and started the Saint Ann Foundation as a mechanism for supporting those in need throughout his national community.”
Diane emphasized, “his story is incredibly inspiring. Abel has sacrificed so much of his time, energy and talents to give back to the women and children in these rural communities.” The Saint Ann Foundation is still a relatively small organization, and when it came time to choose a program to stand behind and support in 2017, she said, “We need to make this happen.”
Brooke joined the Saint Ann Foundation in 2021, and serves as our Strategic Partnership Manager and on the board, as Treasurer. She has been traveling to Uganda since 2018, where she instantly fell in love with the people, landscape and culture. Her experiences and work in Uganda have changed her life forever and she is honored and blessed to be part of this team! She has made it a life mission to help create change and leave this world a better place than it was found. She is passionate about supporting vulnerable children, education and women’s empowerment. Her long term goal is to help create lasting sustainability to empower healthier lives. In America, her job is as a Finance and Accounting Manager for a nonprofit which focuses on creating economic opportunities through entrepreneurial endeavors. In her free time, she loves reading, traveling to new countries and embracing new cultures and cuisines!
I came to know Saint Ann Foundation through my friend Diane E. Phillips in 2017. My mission is to help people be the one in their family to break generational curses of poverty and to provide access to entrepreneurship through purpose driven nutrition.
I became involved in SAF through Tara. Her passion towards the foundation encouraged me to learn more about their mission, and I have since become involved in helping to raise funds to provide the children at SAF centers with nutrition and clothing. I hope to continue to help SAF grow!
Abel Robert Ssekayombya
He is the founder and CEO/President of Saint Ann Foundation. As the principle of the organisation, he passionately drives the charity towards a better future for those in need. With the heart and passion for supporting vulnerable children, girls, women and their families, He is a strong team player and draw on local and international relationships in order to work together to provide the best support network possible. His sense of humanity and deeper connection with the struggles of daily life in a third world country are contrasted by his individuality, humour and zest for life itself, seeing the beauty and potential in whoever he meets.
I was introduced to Saint Ann Foundation for 3 hours on a volunteer trip in December 2019. During my introduction with Robert, I met a little girl, Jane, and we became inseparable during my short time at the center. Robert explained the foundation’s mission, and I was immediately drawn in to help. Since visiting SAF, I have decided to sponsor Jane until she graduates from High School. I have become more involved throughout the years and was named CEO of the United States chapter in May of 2021. I hope to continue to help SAF grow and achieve our mission of empowering impoverished women and children in Uganda!
I first traveled to Uganda in April 2019 to volunteer, and immediately fell in love with the country. I returned a few months later and was introduced to Abel Robert and the Saint Ann’s Foundation and all the incredible work they were doing. Since then, I have split my time between living in Uganda during the winter months and returning to Canada for the summers. I have a background in nursing, specializing in pediatrics and tropical medicine and I am currently working on obtaining my Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Global Studies. I have seen first hand all the amazing projects Saint Ann’s Foundation has been involved in, and I am so honoured and excited to be a part of this team!
