Access to clean and safe water in island areas is a nightmare. However, with support from development partners, Saint Ann Foundation is implementing sustainable water harvesting and management strategies that are geared towards providing clean and safe drinking water to the island community of Buyiga as a way of addressing the water scarcity in the island. This is through the construction of boreholes, protected wells/springs and water reservoirs to harvest and store water that can be utilized by the residents, especially in times of drought so as to ease pressures on the available water sources and the island’s ecosystem.
